Bolton Community Champion Keith Armstrong
Keith Armstrong
Community Champion for Queens Park and Central, Horwich South and Blackrod
Hi. I'm Keith Armstong. I'm the project manager for Bolton Christian Community Cohesion, (supported and funded by Churches Together groups and various church denominations and trust funds, and coming under the banner of the charity 'Greater Manchester Industrial Mission'). We have 3 main strands of work:
i) Supporting churches and Christian organisations across the Bolton borough.
ii) Working alongside other community groups and faith groups to develop cohesion across our town. (We are also part of the Bolton Unity Project)
iii) Co-ordinating workplace chaplaincies.
I co-ordinate 3 teams of volunteer workplace chaplains who offer a listening ear and support to people who work in shops and other businesses in Bolton Town Centre, Horwich Town Centre (the Horwich Angels) and on Middlebrook Retail Park (the Middlebrook Angels) so as a Community Champion I am particularly keen to support people in those 3 areas of the Bolton borough.
I'm Bolton born and bred and love our town.
As workplace chaplains we offer a listening ear to those who work in shops and other businesses - if any staff members are going through a time of illness, bereavement, worry or concern of any kind we are there to listen. We come alongside to celebrate joys and share in challenges. As Community Champions we can share up-to-date information from Bolton Council and Public Health etc and can signpost people to services across the borough including carers' support, welfare rights, counselling services, addiction support groups, health and well-being support, job clubs, debt advice, faith groups, workplace training and redundancy support.
If I can help in any way please contact me by email at [email protected].
